Our Story
Experience is a great teacher. I have been studying what makes great leaders stand out for three decades. Inside of those years, I have led teams and volunteer organizations to great heights! Through collective experiences in the biotech and pharmaceutical arena, it was realized that effective communication is at the heart of leadership and words matter. Why Did You Say That? Five Things Managers Say That Stifle Creativity was written to share what has been learned and to help others grow into leaders who inspire and empower. The experiences are real.
Sports teams build benches to help players prepare to take to the field to play their best when called up to play. We need to build better benches of emerging leaders in our businesses and for that matter, in our homes and schools. Honing your leadership skills is critical as you aspire to be a leader, whether you’re at the table or not.
Key Achievements
“Why Did You Say That? Five Things Managers Say That Stifle Creativity” is my first published book! It took five years to bring it to fruition. I enjoy writing content for LinkedIn, sharing my experiences, and those of others. Two of my favorites are Layoffs, Lemons, and Lemonade, which discusses how layoffs and displacements can be silver linings and bring about positive change, even though they can seem pretty daunting at the moment they come. Got Time to Volunteer? shares information on building leadership competencies in a volunteer capacity and how serving others is paramount to leaders being leaders.
Having two certifications from Cornell University, one in Diversity & Inclusion, and the other in Leadership Agility, has enabled me to build a strategic and growth mindset. During times of immense challenge and ambiguity, I have been able to share my expertise in these areas with others, as well as providing governance expertise gleaned from being a Board Chair and President for two decades in volunteer roles, which has allowed me to help those grow in their respective journeys, while fundraising for championed causes. As a guest lecturer at USC’s Marshall School of Business, Los Angeles, CA, I spent a day with a group of graduate students sharing our journey “From Napkin to Market” and what leaders look for in building great teams.
